When it comes to fiber optic devices, there is a wide range of types, such as fiber optic transceiver, network distribution frame, optical fiber connector, and so on. Do you know the fiber optic terminal box? Next, TUOLIMA will introduce the definition and applications of the fiber optic terminal box in detail.
Fiber optic terminal box is the terminal joint of an optical cable, with fiber optic cables at one end and tail fibers at the other. It is equivalent to a device that splits an optical cable into a single optical fiber. The user FTB fiber termination box installed on the wall is used to provide fiber optic to fiber optic splicing, optical fiber and tail fiber splicing as well as the cross-connect of optical connectors. It can also provide mechanical protection and environmental protection for optical fibers and their components, and allow for appropriate inspections to maintain the highest standards of optical fiber management.
1. Cross-connect cabinet can be divided into optical cable cross-connect cabinet and power cable cross-connect cabinet. They are all used for user front-end wiring.
2. Splice closure generally refers to the fiber optic splice enclosure. In some places, especially in optoelectronic systems, it is also called optical splice closure. Its role is to protect the cable splice from external damage. The distribution frame is also divided into optical cable distribution frame and power cable distribution frame, fiber optic distribution unit plays the same role as the cross-connect cabinet, but it is used inside the operator's machine room.
As the terminal equipment of optical cable line, fiber optic terminal box should have four basic functions:
(1) Fixed function
When the optical cable comes into the frame, the outer sheath and strengthening core will need to be mechanically fixed, the cable will be installed with ground protection components, the terminal will be protected and the optical fiber will be grouped and protected.
(2) Splicing function
After the optical fiber extracted from the optical cable is spliced with the tail fiber, the excess optical fiber will be coiled and stored. The splicing joint will then be protected.
(3) Adjusting and matching function
Plug the connector on the tail cable into the adapter and connect it to the optical connector on the other side of the adapter. Adapters and connectors should be able to insert and plug out flexibly; The optical path can be adjusted, matched and tested freely.
(4) Memory function
Provide storage for various cross-connected optical connecting lines among frames so that they can be placed regularly and neatly.
Proper space and mode should be provided in the fiber optic terminal box to make this part of the optical connecting line clear, easy to adjust and meet the minimum bending radius requirements.
With the development of optical fiber networks, the existing functions of fiber optic terminal boxes can not meet many new requirements. Some manufacturers add optical fiber network components such as optical splitters, wavelength division multiplexers and optical switches directly to the fiber termination box.
Fiber optic terminal box is widely applied to the telephone network system, data, image transferring system and CATV cable TV series, used for straight-through connection and branch connection of indoor optical cable, which plays the role of coiling and storing tail fiber and protecting joint. It is made of cold-rolled steel plate by electrostatic spraying, with reasonable design structure and beautiful appearance, and can fix the fiber cable strengthening core at the terminal.
